Coeur d'Alene 2007

Finally signed up for my first Ironman. It took alot of guts to push the enter button to register but I did it and signed up for the 2007 Coeur d'Alene on June 24, 2007. I have quite a bit of time to prepare and get myself psyched up for the race. My plan is to do the Ironstart Triathlon in Lake Conroe then get ready for the Houston Marathon, then hit it hard in my training for the Ironman. Don't really have a goal time just yet, but I imagine after Ironstar I will have some idea of what I can achieve. My traiing for Ironstar may be lacking some, but I think I can finish in decent time. My run leg is usually my stronget in triathlons, but in this case it might be weak depending mostly on my nutritional needs and my energy level at the the end of the half ironman. Ironstar will be a learning experience for me and just a taste of what it feels to do a full ironman. We will see...

2007 Triathlon Season

The 2007 Tri season is just around the corner. I skipped quite a bit of triathlons last year especially the newer ones in the Houston area (Eastside Triathon, San Jacinton Triathlon, and Silverlake). I started working rotating shift work and had to work nights, weekends during some of the events. Working shift has definitely proved challenging in trying to get the training in. I did manage to do 3 triathlons this year to get ranked. My rankings were not too good last year. I think I could have done better mostly because my biking started off kind of slow last year.

Newbie Triathlete?

The following articles and links are my attempt to educate the Newbie traithlete in what is required in the sport of Triathlon. A lot of these issues came up when I started doing triathlons several years ago and it was difficult to get a good answer from anyone. So the following information is from what I have personally learned through my own experience. Hope it helps.

Triathlon Gear

  • Swim Goggles
  • Swim Lessons
